Aren’t you, For the world to become good

And beautiful and kind?” ~ Langston Hughes

On Human Rights Day, we stand up against intolerance and hatred and reaffirm our common humanity. Today, we packed our bags and our resiliency to begin our week volunteering at the South Texas Family Residential Facility, otherwise known as “Baby Jail” in Dilley, Texas.

Despite 400 women and children having been released last Saturday night, the population in the facility at Dilley is over 1,800 women and children (four times as large as when Michelle and I volunteered in February).

Thank you all so much for your support- both emotional and financial. It truly means a lot. We couldn’t have made it this far without you.

We arrive in San Antonio tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon and begin our orientation at 5 PM. We’ll be posting nightly group updates at Law @ The Margins . Read our latest piece: Dilley Dispatches: Holistic Legal Support to End Family Detention We believe that the message to end family detention needs to be spread far and wide.

Continue to support our trip down to Dilley, Texas here.
